Personal Trainers Riding 3 Horses with 1 Butt!

Few years ago I had an outdoor group fitness business plus a personal training studio.

Both were running extremely successfully.

I had over 60 people on membership in my outdoor group then in my studio I had over 10 trainers helping many people on their health and fitness journey.

I then made a mistake and you can learn from it too.

Before we actually hit our goals we decided?to?conquer other markets.

We tried women only, kids fitness plus corporate groups plus more.

Needless to say trying to focus our attention on so many different target markets who all had completely different reasons for starting an exercise program just did my head.

You have one arse, stop trying to ride 3 or 4 horses.

Focus on one target market and do it brilliantly. Become the go to person in your area for that?particular?niche.

Then you can leverage off that.

Success won?t happen if you are trying to get into every possible market. Just because one of your?clients/friends/colleagues?says it is a good idea, does not mean that it is.

Think about it when it comes to marketing who are you trying to market to? One day personal training, women only, kids classes, men only?arghh when does it stop? Talk about confusion and stress.

The word generalist comes to mind.

By trying to target so many different people does not equal more money. It equals less money made, more money spent, more time and more stress.

When I went back to focusing on my core product which was outdoor group fitness business boomed. This is what allowed me to step out completely out my business, systemize and do the things I loved which was educating other personal trainers.

So the moral of the story is find a niche, stick to it, be the person known in your local area and then leverage off that.

You want to be known as a specialist.
